Description
The Madison Police Department was awarded a federal Byrne Grant of $155,000 through the Department of Justice. The $155,000 planning grant is being used in the West District to research what drives crime in a specific area in southwest Madison. Out of this research, a plan will be developed to help reduce crime and enhance relations between the community and police. This plan is then submitted to the Department of Justice for their review and if they deem it successful, the city could be awarded up to $850,000 to fulfill the goals of the plan.
